It's strange that we think of "tomato" as red, but these peppers are so much more truly red. Light, color, and reflections are emphasized in this still life. Objects share each other's light and space.

Though I was an art teacher early in my career and have painted off-and-on for most of my life, my professional experience has largely been as a bureacrat/manager/statistician--very dry and stressful, enlivened only rarely by out-of-the-box exuberance and risk-taking. But for the past several years I have been retired and live overlooking Lake Wyola in Shutesbury, MA. I am now happily painting (watercolors and acrylics), fly-fishing from my kayak, golfing, and playing tennis. I share my home with three dogs, two cats, two parakeets, and whatever the cats drag in. (A frog in the dogs' water dish?) The doggies and I walk the adjacent pine woods daily, and I take a lot of pictures. Sometimes my own photos inspire my paintings, and...
