This child reminds me of all the kids in the world who are hurting and need help. Her eyes seek our aid.
The painting started out as a watercolor. Then I bonded it to masonite with acrylic medium and added acrylic highlights and varnish. The process intensifies colors and eliminates the need for matting and protective glass.
About Edith Hunsberger
Though I was an art teacher early in my career and have painted off-and-on for most of my life, my professional experience has largely been as a bureacrat/manager/statistician--very dry and stressful, enlivened only rarely by out-of-the-box exuberance and risk-taking. But for the past several years I have been retired and live overlooking Lake Wyola in Shutesbury, MA. I am now happily painting (watercolors and acrylics), fly-fishing from my kayak, golfing, and playing tennis. I share my home with three dogs, two cats, two parakeets, and whatever the cats drag in. (A frog in the dogs' water dish?) The doggies and I walk the adjacent pine woods daily, and I take a lot of pictures. Sometimes my own photos inspire my paintings, and...
